The gear

Backlit Electric is a one man show out of Austin Texas. I've been plugging away at music in Austin since 2001. In the early days, the need for gear and a lack of proper funding drove me to the garage... I built gear with every extra dollar I could get my hands on. Over the years I've built a mountain of guitars, amps and pedals for local musicians, friends, family, bandmates, and rando's on the internet. I'm still stuck in the classics... The tried and tested construction methods from 50 years ago. At the same time, I believe every player has a style that deserves to be acknowledged. I like thin nitro finishes, untraditional color and tint mediums, cloth covered wire, tru-oil, reclaimed lumber and experimental pedal schematics. There is dark magic in taking a piece of gear from your mind to your hands. I'd love to make your perfect guitar, pedal or amplifier.

how to order

I am going to change this process up a bit for the new year. I will be standardizing amplifier and pedal offerings with a constantly updating "wait time" depending on order numbers. I will still be offering custom build guitars (contact form for that here) but will be focusing more of my time on a expanded offering of Amplifiers and Pedals. I will still build a handful of guitars in 2018 that will land in the store. These are usually a far better deal than a custom build because I build with what I have laying around. This helps keep costs low :-)
